Materials include a portion of a letter to Sally Phelps from her husband, William Wines Phelps. It was written from Kirtland Mills and was dated January 5, 1836. Phelps asks the wives of the elders to pray for each other and to stay faithful. He says that the Hebrew lessons at the School of the Prophets have begun and he has learned of the news of the death of Elder Christian Whitmer. There is also some personal material about Phelps and his wife. The bottom of the last page also contains a letter from William Waterman Phelps to "Mother, brothers, and sisters."
