Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten manuscript. The item is a biography of Daniel Allen. He was born on 9 December 1804 in Whitestown, New York, and moved to Chataugua County, New York, in 1807. Daniel Allen married Mary Anne Morris on 6 October 1828. They were baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in June 1832. In 1836, he moved to Kirtland, Ohio, and he later went to the Far West, Missouri, area. He faced the Missouri persecution of Mormons, and he later moved to Nauvoo, Illinois, where he helped work on numerous projects including the Nauvoo Temple. After the death of his first wife, Allen married Louisa Jane Berry on 22 June 1847 at Winter Quarters, Nebraska. He brought his family to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1849. Allen worked as a tanner and married Sarah Whitely in 1854. He later lived in Manti, Pleasant Grove, Provo, Parowan, and Escalante each in Utah. He died in 1892.
