Julie is a student in\rthe nursing program here at BYU. She just returned home from her mission in Mexico, and is currently focusing on school. Her hobbies include cooking, exercising, going on adventures, and studying.

I asked Julie a few days earlier to think of her favorite Girls Camp songs. I then asked her if I could record her and I singing them. I also asked my roommate Brooke Hyde. The three of us sat in my room goggling the lyrics of our favorite girls camp songs.

Girls Camp Songs are a lively and fun tradition. Some of the songs we sang were specifically written for LDS youth; however, other songs we sang were songs that were sung at camps, but not necessarily religious camps. Some girls are given a handbook of songs, and others learn the songs through face to face contact. Julie, Brooke, and I look at both a manual and each other when learning each other's songs. Some of these songs may be known by\rmen, but for the most part only girls sings these songs because they are most frequently song during camp—and men don't usually sing songs while camping. Julie, Brooke and I grew up in three separate states, and yet anytime one of us would introduce a song, at least one other person knew how the song went. We originally sang 3 songs, one each of us brought to sing, but then our 4th roommate suggested we sing the bumble bee song because that was her favorite girls camp song. Interestingly enough, Julie, Brooke and I never sang the bumble bee song at Girls Camp, but we all knew it from our childhood. In each of the songs there are hand gestures. Brooke knew the hand gestures for Princess Pat; I knew the hand gestures for Mormon Boy; Julie knew the hand gestures for Bumble Bee; and Sippin' Cider does not require hand gestures.
