Jon is the oldest of 4 siblings. He has grown up mostly in Utah with his mom and stepdad, but spent summers in New Jersey visiting his dad and stepmom. He served an LDS mission in Romania and Moldova. He enjoys hiking, biking, reading, and sarcasm. In another life he would be a chef, but he is currently planning on attending medical school.

Jon originally told this story to me on a date about a year ago. It was told during a slew of crazy travel related stories…At this point he and I were absolutely convinced that it actually happened to his mission president's niece. I had him repeat it to me a few weeks ago at his house.

This is a story that would likely be told amongst friends or colleagues around a dinner table or another time that conversation is able to flow. It may be more relevant to a younger person or someone living in a big city, that is worried about A) not having a car/easy transportation and B) having their belongings stolen from them on transportation. It does show a general distrust of the people you may be surrounded by in large cities. This story was told to Jon in Bucharest, Romania while he was serving a mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The woman that told this to him would be someone that he trusted and respected. It makes sense that she told this story as they all were living in a foreign city, dealing with pick-pockets and other generally strange scenarios.

I had Jon repeat the story to me, I then recorded it and edited out "ums", pauses, and unnecessary repeated sentences or clarifications.
