Joan loves to cook and explore new recipes. She also loves to embrace family tradition.
-
Joan is my mother and she introduced me to the folklore aspect of the Armenian Rice recipe. She married into the family where the dish is found, so she quickly became aware of the legend qualities of the recipe. Armenian Rice is prepared, served, and eaten at every Shrum event- marriages, funerals, family reunions, Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc.
-
The Shrum ancestry traces back mostly to Germany though my line of Shrum ancestry has been in the United States since before the American Revolution. There is no known Armenian ancestry in the family line.
